About Mentors

The Career Manager programme involves the Mentor in a key role.

  • Delivers the programme in two Stages.
  • Starts Stage 1 with an initial meeting with users (learners).
  • Oversees registration and initial online exercises, sometimes remotely.
  • Receives a report for each user from Career Manager
  • Gives feedback in a one on one session. This concludes Stage 1.
  • Oversees the rest of the programme: Stage 2.
  • Stage 2 involves about 10 sessions, covering 8 Levels, stretching over a year.
  • From the viewpoint of the Mentor, each Level consists of
    • One or more meetings with the user.
    • Discussing work captured on the system so far for that Level by the user.
    • Confirming progress on the system for work captured by the user on the system.
    • Discussing work for next level, to be done by the user and captured on the system.
  • The school institutes a Career Manager programme covering both Stages (all 11 Levels).
  • The school enrols learners by class or group.
  • The school buys licences for the learners.
  • Mentors are trained.
  • An account with special privileges is opened on Career Manager for each Mentor.
  • Mentors are assigned to a class/classes.
  • Mentors report to the principal / subject head.
  • Mentors are trained.
  • An account with special privileges is opened on Career Manager for each Mentor.
  • Each Mentor recruits clients (users) for his/her own account.
  • The Mentor buys a licence (R600) per user.
  • The Mentor charges each client R1500 for Stage 1.
  • The Mentor receives a report for each user from Career Manager and gives feedback in a one on one session: this concludes Stage 1.
  • The Mentor agrees with client on Stage 2, typically a further 10 sessions at R300 each stretching over a year.
